Borders recently went out of business. As recently as when I was in High School, it had the coolest, most cutting edge business model around. It combined CD's with movies, and a ton of books!! I loved it!! Tons of my favorite stuff all in one place.
Unfortunately in the last 15 years they have fallen behind. The failed to start selling ebooks. They failed to set up their own website, so all their online sales gave profit to Amazon. They were contractually obligated to an older inefficient distribution model.
And so I hate to see them go, but fair is fair. They agreed to certain terms, it didn't work out, and now they have to sell off their assets, and start over in new jobs. This is the responsible thing to do. It means telling the truth. Admitting where you went wrong. And being willing to live up to your obligations and honor your word. It is best for everyone too, because it is a clear, undeniable signal that the model Borders was using was a failure. All that, because of a system that was only 15 years behind the times.
Well Govt is also behind the times. They have signed on to several programs that are between 60 and 80 years behind the times. The Democrats have used these programs to buy votes for generations now, and have built up those constituencies until the Democratic party itself can no longer exist without them. These programs are so old and inefficient that they are doing irreprable harm to our government and our economy, but the Democrats know that without them they would be goners.
So our country finds itself in a situation where the Democrats make themselves popular by creating programs to buy votes. These programs ruin the economy. And the Democrats fight tooth and nail to keep them because they know they can't survive without them. They are taking us down, and either they have to be defeated so that our country can start to heal itself, or they will burn through the economy using all that money to buy votes to stay in power until there is no money, and no economy left.
